HMHB convenes experts to address critical technical questions related to maternal nutrition and MMS. Questions may pertain to local manufacturing and supply of MMS, micronutrient needs during lactation, or the use of MMS in emergency settings.
Convening experts to address technical questions related to maternal nutrition and MMS and building consensus among maternal health and nutrition professionals is a critical function of HMHB.

At the 22nd International Congress of Nutrition in Tokyo, Japan, HMHB hosted a session on ‘Micronutrients across a woman’s life course’ and participated in another MMS-related session ‘Introducing and Scaling Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation for Improved Maternal Nutrition’.
HMHB, in conjunction with the Indonesian MMS-TAG and Vitamin Angels-Indonesia, organized its first-ever in-person MMS Regional Meeting from 10-13 October 2022 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The first-ever HMHB Annual Meeting , held on 23rd February 2022 convened HMHB members to discuss the priorities and next steps for 2022.
A session, ‘The unfinished agenda of maternal malnutrition and its impact on birth outcomes’ at FIGO engaged maternal health experts for better integration of nutrition and MMS in antenatal care services.
A series of seven short, interactive ‘Coffee and Chai Chats’ with leading global experts in the maternal nutrition and MMS fields allowed stakeholders to ask questions about diverse topics relating to MMS. New chats are currently in development.
