14 October 2023 – The Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Consortium (HMHB) has released a new advocacy brief on the Nutrition resilience of mothers and their babies – Antenatal MMS: One of the best bets for global development for the Micronutrient Forum’s 6th Global Conference, Nutrition for Resilience.
This brief highlights the extent of maternal malnutrition globally and its devasting consequences on the health and well-being of the mother and child. It underscores the need to implement cost-effective, evidence-based interventions such as multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) with a return of $37 for every $1 invested, the barriers to scaling up MMS, and recommends key actions to ensure its widespread availability and delivery.
Advocates can use this brief to nudge national leaders and decision-makers to consider the adoption of MMS at the country level.
