Progress on the Nutrition for Growth Commitment and Call to Join

Strong leadership and coordination are needed at global, regional and community levels to address anemia from multiple perspectives and channels is critical to reduce the burden of anemia worldwide. WHO and UNICEF, working with a broad selection of external partners and stakeholders, such as governments, UN agencies, academia, civil society, including NGO’s, are leading the development of a Global action plan on the prevention and management of anaemia, and to establish a new Alliance for Anemia Actions, a cross-sector platform driven by community, national and global stakeholders to accelerate action toward reducing the anemia burden in women and children.

Please join this session to:

1. Share update on progress since the announcement at N4G and engage Member States in the development of the Global Action Plan on Anemia and the establishment of the Alliance for Anemia Actions.
2. Emphasize the need and benefits of a multisectoral approach to address the growing challenges of preventing and managing anemia globally.
3. Galvanize interest of global, regional, and national actors to support the Global Action Plan and join one of ‘Alliance for Anemia Actions’ workstreams.
