In this session, titled “Accelerating MMS in Countries: Costing Strategies and Country Examples Using the R4D Tool,” presenters Amna Hassana Abdulsalam and Amy Roberts from Results for Development (R4D) will walk participants through the interactive, customizable roadmap costing tool designed to help implementing partners, and governments developing MMS introduction and scale-up roadmaps in any country. The R4D tool features a user-friendly interface that assists stakeholders in estimating the costs of all activities necessary for a successful transition from iron folic acid (IFA) to MMS, such as product procurement, demand generation, advocacy, and coordination. The tool has been tested in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Pakistan. Adding a real-world perspective, Godwin Bawa Samari from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Nigeria, will share how Nigeria has applied the R4D costing tool to inform its national strategy for MMS. His presentation will highlight key lessons from the country’s experience. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers through a live question-and-answer session. Questions can also be submitted in advance via the webinar registration form.

This webinar is part of HMHB’s ongoing Coffee and Chai Chat series, which brings together experts and practitioners to exchange knowledge and evidence on improving maternal nutrition and scaling interventions such as MMS and Balanced Energy and Protein (BEP) dietary supplementation during pregnancy.
